I was Lead Singer in an 80's Hair Band and being a "charasmatic" front-man, I was getting into one of my songs. I turned around and did a David Lee Roth type kick.. and as I kicked, I saw something fly by me. When I turned back around, the front couple rows were all starting at me with their jaws dropped.
I was confused. I looked back and saw my Bassist staring at me and 2 of his bass strings just dangling there in the middle of the song. I was wearing these huge goth type platform boots. I had felt nothing, but suddenly realized the headstock of his bass was also dangling and what I saw fly by me was the tuners of his bass. I kicked his bass in half!! I tried to finish the song, but as I sang, I nervously laughed, then apologized profusely.
We bought him a replacement bass a few months later. Fortunately, he had a back up bass that night, but I will never forget the mouths dropped of fans in the crowd.
